Reduction of Losses and Operating Costs in Distribution Networks Using a Genetic Algorithm and Mathematical Optimization

This study deals with the minimization of operational and investment cost in distribution operation power flow considering installation fixed-step capacitor banks. issue is represented by a nonlinear mixed-integer programming mathematical model which solved applying Chu Beasley genetic algorithm (CBGA). While this classical method for resolving type optimization problem, solutions found using approach are better than those reported literature metaheuristic techniques General Algebraic Modeling System (GAMS). In addition, time required CBGA to get results was reduced few seconds make it more robust, efficient, capable tool system analysis. Finally, computational sources used were developed MATLAB environment implementing test feeders composed 10, 33, 69 nodes radial meshed configurations.
